About Battle of Normandy Tours

'Tell us what we want to know...'
Battle of Normandy Tours is a private company based in Bayeux in France. Specializing in Private Guided Tours of the D-Day Landing Beaches and the following Battle of Normandy that occurred during the summer of 1944, more general tours can also be taken to the sites of the Battle of the Bulge, the Raid on Dieppe as well as World War One Tours and the Battle of Waterloo.
The company was started by Edward Robinson, an Irishman living in Normandy with an avid interest in Modern European Military History. After having spent more than ten years visiting European Battlefields on holidays, he started working as a Battlefield Tour Guide in Normandy in 2003. He initially trained as a D-Day Tour guide at the Memorial de Caen and afterwards worked for several different tour companies as a Military History Tour guide before deciding to branch out on his own.
Since starting work as a Battlefield guide as well as showing visiting tourists around he has taken over 80 D-Day veterans to see the places where they fought here in Normandy. These have been mostly American veterans, but also British, Canadian and even some German veterans, too. He has also helped a lot of families of veterans who are now passed on to research their relatives' military background to help the family better understand their military service and taken several of these families to the see the sites for themselves.
Since 2007 he has given yearly presentations on the Battle of Normandy at the US Navy SEAL Museum muster reunion open day (http://www.navysealmuseum.com/) in Fort Pierce in Florida and has taken several Nation's soldiers, sailors and airmen (serving and retired) on tour in Normandy. He has also worked with Television Producer Tim Gray (www.timgraymedia.com) of Rhode Island as Military History Advisor on two World War Two film documentaries, entitled "Navy Heroes of Normandy" and "D-Day: The Price of Freedom".
He gives tours in English, French and German, has a rather sharp sense of humour and is not known for giving a very politically correct tour. He is an entertaining storyteller who will always keep you amused, informed and sombre where appropriate.
